OHS to provide medical evacuation services for Ebola response

PRINCETON, IN – Onsite Occupational Health and Safety, Inc. (Onsite OHS), today announced it was awarded a contract for Aeromedical Evacuation Team (AMET) services for various West Africa countries.

The contract, awarded in January, is for the provision of medical personnel, equipment and supplies to provide ground, rotary-wing, and fixed-wing evacuations depending upon patient location, level of clinical care required, and the ability for local or regional tertiary care facilities to care for the transferred patients.

“Onsite OHS is honored to be part of the global response to one of the most prominent public health emergencies in recent history.” said Kyle G. Johnson, President & Chief Executive Officer of Onsite OHS. “It is a testament to the abilities and quality of the clinical professionals that make up the OHS team.”

In addition to the assistance to the international community in Sierra Leone, Onsite OHS has also been in Liberia since last fall supporting the U.S. Government response to the Ebola crisis.

Working with various clients globally, Onsite OHS mobilized medical supplies, personnel and equipment in January. Although the Ebola transmission in West Africa has declined when compared to the peak levels of last year, the identified cases in Guinea and Sierra Leone have leveled off and the challenge still exists.

“Although things are better,” said Johnson, “the goal is zero and the risk will continue until all three countries are at zero. As I attend coordination meetings I am amazed at the level of global participation in this crisis. I have met providers from dozens of countries who are all working together to reach the goal of zero.”

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), over 24,000 people have contracted Ebola in this outbreak. This includes nearly 10,000 deaths in the three hardest hit countries of Guinea, Sierra Leone and Liberia.
