New York medical clinic to care for U.S. Veterans
PRINCETON, IN – Onsite Occupational Health and Safety, Inc. (Onsite OHS), today announced it has been awarded a contract by the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and the Syracuse VA Medical Center to operate a medical clinic and provide medical services to Veterans living in upstate New York.
The Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC), located in Massena, N.Y., will provide primary care, mental health care, women’s healthcare, and preventive health services to Veterans. The clinic currently serves enrolled Veterans living in St. Lawrence County and the surrounding area known as North Country.
“Onsite OHS is honored to partner with the Syracuse VA to offer high quality, personalized healthcare services to Veterans,” said Kyle G. Johnson, President & Chief Executive Officer of Onsite OHS. “As a Veteran myself, I look forward to providing clinical care to those who have sacrificed so much and honorably served our country.”
The Veterans Health Administration provides healthcare for Veterans across the country through the use of CBOCs, which are healthcare sites designed to focus on the primary care needs of Veterans. Contracts for operation of CBOCs are competitively bid every five years to ensure that Veteran patients are receiving the best possible care from the most capable providers.
“Onsite OHS was selected to operate the CBOC because their proposal was the most responsive to the needs of our Veterans,” said Richard Kazel, External Medical/Surgical Care Line Manager for the Syracuse VA. “Onsite OHS has an impressive record of providing medical care and we are looking forward to working closely with them to provide the high quality care that our Veterans have earned,” Kazel concluded.
This is the second CBOC contract awarded by the VA to Onsite OHS. The CBOC will begin seeing patients in July at a new clinic location in Massena, which is currently undergoing extensive renovations. The new clinic is over 9,000 square feet and will provide significant additional space needed for easier access, patient privacy and new and enhanced services. Services for Veterans will continue without interruption during the transition period.
